Keanu Reeves says a new script draft for Constantine 2 is under studio review as fan demand grows for a sequel to the 2005 cult classic.
- While promoting Good Fortune, Reeves said, `Another draft of the script came in. We're gonna take it to the studio and hopefully they like it too`, according to Collider.
- The sequel was first confirmed in 2022 with Reeves, Francis Lawrence and J.J. Abrams attached, but the project has faced intermittent reports and shelving speculation despite Lawrence confirming its ongoing development.
- Akiva Goldsman wrote the script while Francis Lawrence is expected to return to direct, and the cast includes Tilda Swinton, Rachel Weisz, Djimon Hounsou, with Peter Stormare reprising Lucifer.
- There is no guarantee the new script will be greenlit by DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran, as Gunn said the screenplay must be exceptional to proceed.
