Kamala Harris’ $8M New Home Is in an Exclusive Enclave With Virtually No Black Residents
Former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff bought an $8.15 million, 4,000-square-foot mansion in Malibu's Point Dume neighborhood, which is about 94% White and only 0.2% Black according to 2019 Census data.
Point Dume and nearby communities have been reported to largely exclude minorities, with some non-White surfers describing hostile experiences in the area despite public access laws.
Harris has a history of advocating for racial equity in housing and promoting the importance of living among Black Americans, yet her new home is located in an area with virtually no racial diversity.
Harris has taken legal and political actions addressing racial discrimination in housing, including joining a Supreme Court brief on the Fair Housing Act and proposing substantial aid for redlined communities.
