- On Wednesday, New York-based Judge Richard Berman demanded prosecutors explain how they protect victims' privacy after documents with names were released by Congress earlier this month.
- Earlier this month, Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed a bill directing the DOJ to release files, and the House Oversight Committee published dozens of Justice Department documents exposing victims' identities.
- Victims' attorneys Bradley Edwards and Brittany Henderson on Tuesday wrote that those identified include women already harmed, victims faced press harassment, one cannot sleep, and transparency cannot `come at the expense of the privacy, safety and protection of sexual abuse and sex-trafficking victims.`
- U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton wrote Wednesday that the DOJ "intends to redact or withhold victim information to the fullest extent permitted" by the recently passed law, and the department previously unsuccessfully asked Judge Richard Berman to unseal grand jury transcripts and exhibits.
- Amid a recent push for more transparency into the Epstein investigation, victims' attorneys say the released documents reveal little compared with the Department of Justice investigative files this month.
