- On Friday, Justice Yashwant Varma moved the Supreme Court challenging the inquiry report, also seeking to set aside the impeachment recommendation by former Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna.
- Following the March fire at his Delhi residence, a three-member inquiry committee appointed by former Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna indicted Justice Yashwant Varma, who has challenged the findings in the Supreme Court.
- The inquiry committee found `strong inferential evidence` of Varma's control over the storeroom, backed by direct and electronic evidence confirming large sums of cash at 30, Tughlaq Crescent, New Delhi.
- Days ahead of the Monsoon Session, Rijiju said `The impeachment of a High Court or Supreme Court judge on corruption issues cannot be political,` underscoring cross-party unity.
- Ahead of July 21’s Monsoon Session, the government is exploring ways to complete the removal process within the session itself.
