José Ismael Peña, new rector of the National University

The Higher Council of the National University has appointed José Ismael Peña as the new rector of the school this Thursday.

It was an unexpected result, as Leopoldo Múnera, winner of the university consultation, was expected to fill the position.

The Higher University Council of the National University of Colombia (Unal) appointed, in an extraordinary session, José Ismael Peña Reyes as rector for the period 2024 - 2027. He was ahead of Leopoldo Múnera, who had won university appointments. He comes in to replace Dolly Montoya.
