Adolf Grandhomme (1876-1957) was a sugar boiler at the Lihue Plantation mill from 1919 until he retired in 1945. As sugar boiler, he was responsible for creating sugar at the mill by the process of converting clarified sugar juice (mother liquor), which had been extracted from crushed sugarcane stalks, into crystalized sugar.
