SORSOGON, JUL 17 – The Coast Guard’s Deployable Response Group is on alert due to Tropical Storm Crising’s strong winds and heavy rainfall, with over 15 coastal municipalities monitored, officials said.
- Friday morning, PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Crising intensified into a tropical storm with winds of 65 kph and gusts up to 80 kph.
- The southwest monsoon, enhanced by Tropical Cyclone Crising, is bringing 100–200 mm of rain to several areas, and the weather bureau warned of floods and landslides.
- In Batanes and Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, minimal to moderate risk of 1–2 meter storm surges is expected within 24 hours.
- According to James Agustin’s '24 Oras' report, the Cagayan PDRRMO declared red alert status, prompting forced evacuation of coastal municipalities and removal of tourist boats with cottages dismantled.
- On its forecast track, the cyclone is expected to make landfall in the Babuyan Islands Friday night and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning or afternoon.
