Export stop of palm oil from Indonesia: good for the environment?
As of today, Indonesia will stop exporting crude palm oil. Due to the war in Ukraine, sunflower oil and palm oil were becoming increasingly expensive and as a result Indonesians could no longer afford oil to cook in themselves. That should improve by keeping all palm oil for the Indonesians themselves. Wouter Kolk, campaign manager of the Environment Defence, explains in De Nieuws BV whether this is a good development.
