- Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan hosted the commissioning of INS Mahe at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on Monday, November 24, 2025, with General Upendra Dwivedi presiding as chief guest.
- Built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, Kochi, Mahe showcases India’s indigenous shipbuilding drive with over 80% indigenous content and more than 75 per cent of the Navy's capital platforms sourced indigenously.
- Equipped with DRDO Abhay Hull-Mounted Sonar and Low Frequency Variable Depth Sonar, Mahe carries two triple lightweight torpedo launchers, a 12-barrel anti-submarine rocket launcher, and a 30 mm rapid-firing naval gun.
- INS Mahe will strengthen coastal security and anti-submarine capability along India’s littorals, enhancing protection of India's maritime borders, the release said.
- As the first of eight ships, Mahe begins a production run by Cochin Shipyard Limited, fitting into the Navy’s anti-submarine warfare modernisation plan and 'Builders' Navy' concept with over 80% indigenous content.
