India Stars Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma Served NADA Notices After Missing Dope Tests: Report
Both Indian cricketers face whereabouts-failure notices after missing scheduled out-of-competition tests, with NADA saying a third violation in 12 months can trigger suspension.
On Saturday, the National Anti-Doping Agency issued notices to cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma for failing to appear for scheduled doping tests, registering a first whereabouts failure against both.
As members of the Registered Testing Pool, athletes must specify daily time slots and locations where they remain available for testing; Dope Control Officers conduct surprise checks to verify compliance.
Currently, 13 cricketers are part of the testing pool, and this marks the first registered violation for Jaiswal and Verma; reports suggest both will present explanations before a hearing panel.
The BCCI and ICC have been notified of the notices, with BCCI sources confirming they will investigate; proven charges could result in a two-year suspension under anti-doping guidelines.
With cricket's return to the Olympics, the BCCI emphasized adhering to all protocols, noting that missing three tests in 12 months constitutes a formal doping violation under regulations.
