Russia's military and political network, built across Africa with Wagner, is extending to a new country. Following a military coup in 2025, Moscow sent Africa Corps soldiers, weapons, and GRU personnel to Madagascar. The Russian presence, strengthened after coups in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, is now expanding towards the Indian Ocean.
After the military coup in Madagascar, Russia began to develop contacts with the new regime more significantly. According to media reports, Moscow is using the GRU military intelligence and the Africa Corps there.
