On a cold night in February 2023, a freight train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. For days, the dangerous content of the train spilled into the surrounding soil, water and air. It was an environmental and public health catastrophe and efforts are being made to monitor the long-term effects on the health of the East Palestine population. However, a team of scientists focuses on another group of local residents: dogs.
