- During a Tuesday hearing in Brownsville, attorneys for the Minnesota Attorney General argued releasing Castro poses significant flight risk. Texas Governor Greg Abbott's legal team countered the lawsuit is premature.
- Citing ongoing fraud investigations in Minnesota, Abbott has not responded to the extradition request. General counsel Trevor W. Ezell said Abbott ordered an internal investigation to determine if Castro is legally a "fugitive."
- U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez stated, "I think ripeness is a significant issue" regarding the lawsuit's timing. Minnesota attorney Kimberly Ann Svendsen countered, "There's nothing legally left for them to investigate.
