- Despite $20 million in funding from Congress, ICE operates largely without body cameras. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem promised in February that agents would begin wearing the devices, yet implementation remains incomplete across the agency.
- On July 14, DHS said more than half of ICE field offices had received body cameras, with the rest arriving within 60 days. Former acting ICE chief Todd Lyons told Congress in March that only around 3,000 of 13,000 officers were equipped with cameras.
- Following the deaths and ensuing protests, the Trump administration issued an order on July 14 aiming to limit ICE traffic stops. The directive attempts to address concerns regarding aggressive enforcement tactics that have resulted in multiple fatalities.
