World Cup Ticket Demand Soars Past 15 Million
The ICC said fans from 142 countries submitted more than 15 million applications as demand outpaced supply for the 2027 tournament.
On Tuesday, The International Cricket Council announced 15,083,752 ticket applications for the Cricket World Cup, with fans from 142 countries generating over 4 million ballot registrations for matches across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Since the ballot opened 12 days ago, applications surged from one million to over 15 million, demonstrating unprecedented acceleration in demand for the 14th edition of the tournament.
ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta called the demand a "testament to the stature and appeal of the Cricket World Cup" and the "allure of Africa as a destination," with registration remaining open until November 21, 2026.
Fans may submit one ballot entry per person per match, with registration closing at 23 hours 59 minutes CAT on November 21, 2026, exactly one year before the final at Wanderers, Johannesburg.
The tournament introduces a new three-stage format beginning with a Super Series for teams ranked 12th through 14th, where Successful teams advance to the second phase and the Super 7 stage.
