Samsung S26 Ultra's Privacy Display Makes Shoulder Surfing a Thing of the Past
The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s pixel-level Privacy Display narrows viewing angles to hide notifications and app content with a stronger Maximum mode for enhanced privacy, Samsung said.
- On Wednesday, at Galaxy Unpacked in San Francisco, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S26 Ultra featuring a built-in Privacy Display billed as a world-first screen-privacy feature.
- Built into the display rather than added as a protector, the Privacy Display uses wider-angle pixels and narrow pixels separated by partition walls to limit side viewing, echoing physical privacy screen protectors.
- Users can toggle it from Quick Settings and automate Privacy Display per app, with two intensity settings: Partial Screen Privacy and Maximum Privacy Protection.
- Reviewers found the Privacy Display darkens the screen at off-angles and washes out colors in Maximum Privacy Protection mode, while a Samsung spokesperson couldn't confirm any battery impact but said keeping it on shouldn't drain power.
- Exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, available for pre-order starting at $1,299 with trade-in and pre-order perks, and ships March 11.
