Hyundai Recalls Nearly 84,000 Genesis Vehicles over Software Error
The recall covers 83,877 2025-2026 Genesis models due to a software glitch that may cause critical display screens to reboot or go blank, NHTSA said.
- In the United States, Hyundai Motor Co. is recalling nearly 84,000 Genesis vehicles after a recall notice from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Jan. 16.
- A software error in the audio‑video navigation or radio memory system can cause instrument panel and center infotainment displays to reboot or go blank, making drivers lose speedometer and fuel-level readings and violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101.
- The affected models include the Genesis G80, GV60 and GV70 families, with 237 reports from Sept. 26, 2024–Jan. 2 and more than 200 complaints but no confirmed crashes or injuries.
- Hyundai will roll out an audio‑video/navigation software update mainly over-the-air, dealerships will install it free, and owners will receive mailed notices starting Mar. 16; Hyundai advises disabling HD radio until fixed.
- Owners can check their vehicle identification number on the NHTSA recall website using recall number 26V019000, and Genesis began installing updates in new vehicles late last year.
