Hyundai Recalls Nearly 84,000 Genesis Vehicles over Software Error

In the United States, Hyundai Motor Co. is recalling nearly 84,000 Genesis vehicles after a recall notice from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Jan. 16.
A software error in the audio‑video navigation or radio memory system can cause instrument panel and center infotainment displays to reboot or go blank, making drivers lose speedometer and fuel-level readings and violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101.
The affected models include the Genesis G80, GV60 and GV70 families, with 237 reports from Sept. 26, 2024–Jan. 2 and more than 200 complaints but no confirmed crashes or injuries.
Hyundai will roll out an audio‑video/navigation software update mainly over-the-air, dealerships will install it free, and owners will receive mailed notices starting Mar. 16; Hyundai advises disabling HD radio until fixed.
Owners can check their vehicle identification number on the NHTSA recall website using recall number 26V019000, and Genesis began installing updates in new vehicles late last year.
