Hurricanes Bring Win Streak Into Matchup with the Flyers
Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov each had a goal and an assist as Carolina extended its winning streak to five games.
- The Carolina Hurricanes visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday at 7 p.m. EDT, aiming to extend their four-game win streak. The Hurricanes hold a 4-1-1 Metropolitan Division record, while the winless Flyers sit at 0-4-2.
- Carolina's dominance over the Flyers dates back to last spring, when the Hurricanes swept them en route to winning the Stanley Cup. Philadelphia has lost 10 straight games to Carolina since that playoff series.
- In their last meeting on Oct. 3, the Hurricanes posted a 3-2 victory in Philadelphia. Most recently, Carolina defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 on Saturday, while the Flyers lost 5-1 to the Boston Bruins.
- Philadelphia coach Rick Tocchet's team played Saturday without Travis Konecny, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Cam York. "Hopefully, we get some healthy bodies back," said Tocchet, as the Flyers struggle with injuries and a difficult season start.
- Serving 10.5 penalty minutes per game, the Flyers rank 10th in NHL play. They face a tough test Sunday against the Hurricanes, who aim for their fifth consecutive victory in this Metropolitan Division matchup.
