Pospisil’s Third-Period Goal Pushes Flames to First Win of the Season, 4-2 over Ducks
Martin Pospisil scored the go-ahead goal with 4:22 left, and Dustin Wolf made 22 saves as Calgary earned its first win.
The Calgary Flames secured their first win of the season on Tuesday, defeating the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 with Martin Pospisil scoring the tiebreaking goal with 4:22 remaining.
Entering the game winless after an 0-5 start, Calgary sought redemption while Anaheim faced a depleted roster, summoning 2025 first-round draft pick Roger McQueen for his NHL debut after injuries sidelined forwards Cutter Gauthier and Ryan Poehling.
Adam Klapka and Aydar Suniev added goals for the Flames, while Beckett Sennecke and Leo Carlsson replied for Anaheim; goaltender Dustin Wolf made 23 saves and Lukas Dostal stopped 32 shots.
Following the matchup, the Flames travel to visit the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday while the Ducks prepare to host the Boston Bruins on Friday.
Historically, Calgary finds success in Anaheim, having won 11 of their last 13 visits, and the Flames maintain a trend of winning 58 consecutive games when scoring four or more goals.
