Since Tuesday 21 July, a major fire, which was declared in Saumos, north of the Arcachon basin, ravages the Gironde. This Friday morning, the fire is still out of control and has travelled 8,700 hectares in Gironde and 2,500 in the Landes, causing the evacuation of tens of thousands of people and pushing France to seek European air reinforcements.
