UK-Bound Jet2 Flight Makes Emergency Landing as Pilot 'Has Heart Attack Mid-Air'
The aircraft landed safely after the first officer took control, and 220 passengers were stranded in Portugal for over 13 hours, witnesses said.
On Thursday, Jet2 Flight LS1266 from Tenerife to Birmingham diverted to Porto Airport after a pilot became unwell, with a spokesperson confirming the diversion was "due to one of the pilots feeling unwell."
Cabin crew members were visibly distressed, asking the 220 passengers aboard whether anyone had medical training as the aircraft descended rapidly for an emergency landing.
Video footage captured the aircraft landing safely in Porto at 2.11am on Friday, where emergency services met the flight and treated the pilot.
One passenger revealed, "We were stranded in Portugal for over 13 hours without accommodation," claiming travellers were denied exit from the aircraft for over an hour.
Jet2 dispatched a pilot from Manchester to assist in bringing travellers home, offering complimentary transfers to any of 14 destinations within the following week.
