High-speed police chase through downtown Syracuse ends when driver ditches vehicle on Near Westside

Syracuse, N.Y. — A high-speed police chase through downtown Syracuse on Monday night ended when the driver and a passenger of the vehicle being chased ditched it on the Near Westside, according to 911 Center dispatches.Police began following the vehicle west on Brighton Street towards South Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. Two people were seen in the vehicle, according to dispatches. It was unclear why the vehicle was being pursued.
