The former national security advisor was charged after forgetting classified documents on a course campus. Now Henrik Landerholm is acquitted – because the court believes that he was not grossly negligent. – It has not been a question of conscious risk-taking, says Lennart Christianson, Chief Councilor, in a press release.
Sweden's former national security adviser Henrik Landerholm has been acquitted of charges of negligence with classified information. The court finds that he was not grossly negligent when he left secret documents behind at a course building. "There was no conscious risk-taking or other aggravating circumstances that would have resulted in gross negligence, which is a requirement for a conviction," says Chief Justice Lennart Christianson.
If the acquittal against former security coordinator Henrik Landerholm is not appealed and changed in a higher instance, the law should be reviewed, believes former Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist (S). "It cannot be that one is so grossly careless with secret documents and then gets away with it," he says.
