ACM, the Dutch competition authority, approves the acquisition of the remaining shares in Hema by the Van Eerd family. However, this does not mean that the deal is complete: the Belgian competition authority and Hema's works council still have to give their approval.
HEMA is making its famous smoked sausage again using the original recipe. Over a year ago, the retail chain switched to a different recipe, sourced from a different supplier, to comply with the Better Life Quality Mark. "However, it proved challenging to fully retain that recognizable HEMA flavor," HEMA now admits.
