Fire. A truck takes fire on the highway, traffic very complicated on the A9 towards Montpellier

A truck caught fire on Wednesday 23 April 2025 at 12:10 p.m., as it was travelling on the A9 towards Montpellier and Lyon. The highway was closed to traffic after Sète (Hérault). Traffic resumed on the leftmost track at about 14:20 p.m. A second track on all three reopened a little after 18:00 p.m.

According to VINCI Autoroutes, the Autoroute A9 is cut in the direction of Spain and Lyon. Entrances n°22 Roquemaure and n°23 Remoulins are closed due to a heavy-duty fire. Exits n°22 and n°23 are mandatory. More information...

UPDATED AT 6:10 p.m. This Wednesday, a heavyweight caught fire at around 12:10 p.m. on the A9 motorway in the Montpellier area, after the A9/A709 junction towards Lyon.
