- The new shots target the LP.8.1 variant, a descendant of Omicron that the World Health Organization monitored earlier this year, Pfizer and Moderna said.
- Moderna will manufacture vaccine doses in Laval, Quebec, and syringes will be filled in Cambridge, Ontario, while provinces and territories manage orders and distribution.
- NACI recommends vaccination for seniors, residents of long-term care homes, people who are immunocompromised and health-care workers, advising doses yearly for people 65 to 79 and two yearly for those 80 and older and long-term care residents.
- Both Comirnaty and Spikevax are approved for adults and children six months of age and older in Canada.
