The British Times reported that Doha, one of the mediators in the talks, instructed senior members of the organization who are in the country to do so as part of the negotiations for a hostage deal.

Senior Hamas officials abroad have been told to hand over their personal weapons in the midst of negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of the remaining Israeli hostages, reports the Times. The directive came from Qatari mediators, reports the Times, and is largely a symbolic initiative and a twist to Israel's demand for Hamas disarmament, which the terrorist group has rejected so far.

Recently, Qatar appears to be changing its approach towards the terrorist organization Hamas, which it has sponsored over the years. The organization's senior officials received a very unusual message, after years of being honored as kings in the country.
