In Cairo, Hamas reiterated yesterday its demand to end the war and Israel’s total withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, as well as the guarantee of the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, in response to the U.S. proposed truce. Steve Witkoff, U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, called the Palestinian group’s position “unacceptable” and assured that this position would lead to a setback in the talks.
In a new proposal, Hamas demanded that Israel withdraw its troops from the Gaza Strip and allow humanitarian aid to come in to face the famine in the Palestinian enclave The Islamist group Hamas said on Saturday that it had delivered its response to the latest U.S. ceasefire proposal in Gaza, and that it included amendments aimed at bringing an end to the war and the withdrawal of Israeli forces outside the Gaza Strip.
