Clashes between rival gangs in the suburbs of Haiti’s capital have killed at least 78 people and wounded 66 since Saturday, the United Nations office in Haiti said on Thursday. The toll included 10 civilians. Haiti, the Caribbean’s poorest country, has faced spiralling gang violence and worsening insecurity over the past two years.
The representative in Haiti of the NGO M dicos Sans Frontières (MSF) warned to have the day for these fights and, due to the worsening of the situation, decided to temporarily withdraw one of its hospitals in Cit-Soleil.
