Grayscale Adds Staking to Ethereum and Solana Investment Products in U.S. First

Grayscale’s new ETFs enable staking for Ethereum and Solana, offering investors passive network security participation through institutional custodians and validator providers.

  • On October 6, 2025, Grayscale Investments announced that its Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF became the first U.S.-listed spot crypto ETPs to enable staking while activating staking for Grayscale Solana Trust .
  • After meetings with the SEC's Crypto Task Force earlier in 2025, Grayscale discussed staking integration as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has been cautious despite prior spot Bitcoin and Ether ETP approvals.
  • Operationally, Grayscale will stake passively via institutional custodians and validator providers, enabling investors to earn staking rewards on ETH and SOL while ETHE, ETH, and GSOL hold $4.82 billion, $3.31 billion, and $122.5 million respectively.
  • The launch gives traditional brokerage investors a new way to earn staking rewards through ETHE and ETH, which are not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and carry unresolved regulatory and investment risks including GSOL's speculative risk.
  • With roughly $35 billion in AUM, Grayscale plans to extend staking to more products while industry analysts say its staking-enabled offerings could attract fresh institutional capital and serve as a blueprint.
