Google announces Maps screenshot analysis, AI itineraries to help you plan trips

Google is launching new AI-powered features across Search, Maps, and Gemini this week to help users plan summer vacations, including hotel-rate tracking and trip planning.
Building on its popular flight price alerts, Google is expanding hotel search functionality to include email alerts for price drops on chosen dates and destinations globally, accessible on mobile browsers.
Google Maps is introducing a new tool that allows users to create destination lists from screenshots, leveraging Gemini AI to identify locations of interest, initially rolling out on iOS in English in the U.S.
Google Search's AI Overviews can now generate trip ideas with locations, photos, and itineraries based on user queries, allowing export to Docs or Gmail, and is available for English language queries in the U.S. On mobile and desktop.
Google shared search data from June 1 to Aug 31 from Google Flights searches departing from US airports identifying top international destinations as Curaçao, Osaka, St. Lucia, Tokyo, and Rio de Janeiro, and top domestic destinations as San Juan, Billings, Mont., Nantucket, Mass., St. Louis, and Providence, R.I.
