Google has corrected a vulnerability in the company's account recovery function that allowed users' phone numbers used for that option to be disclosed without alerting the owner, thus making it easier for malicious actors to obtain personal information and thus execute targeted cyber attacks or identity thefts.
The company has patched a serious vulnerability in its profile recovery system that could have allowed attackers to determine the phone number associated with any Google account.
