Garfield Heights junior follows father's footsteps in being named Mr. Basketball
- Marcus Johnson of Garfield Heights High School was named the 2025 Ohio Mr. Basketball by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association on Thursday, making him the first junior to win the award.
- He and his father, Sonny, are the first father-son duo to earn this honor in state history.
- Marcus averaged 29.7 points per game and led the Bulldogs to a 23-3 record, despite losing to Louisville in the Division III state semifinals.
- In addition to the Mr. Basketball title, Marcus also maintained a GPA of 3.52 and was named the Gatorade Ohio Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
