Games-Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Advance as Rain Washes Out Cricket Again
- On Tuesday, Sri Lanka advanced to the Asian Games men's cricket semi-finals after their quarter-final against Nepal was abandoned due to persistent rain, setting up a Thursday clash with India at Korogi Sports Park.
- Persistent rain in Nagoya forced the abandonment of all four cricket quarter-finals, prompting organizers to advance higher-seeded teams automatically under tournament regulations.
- None of the four semi-finalists have played a single ball in the 2026 Asian Games, despite organizers spending a year converting a baseball diamond at Korogi into a cricket venue.
- Thursday's semi-finals pit India against Sri Lanka at 2 p.m. and Pakistan against Bangladesh at 9 a.m. local time, with tournament rules deploying a Super Over to break any ties.
- The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts clear weather for Thursday with a 0 percent probability of precipitation, and temperatures in Nagoya are predicted between 20 and 31 degrees Celsius.
