Whistleblower complaint alleges Tulsi Gabbard 'locked down' NSA report on Kushner: WSJ
A highly classified complaint alleges Tulsi Gabbard restricted intelligence on an intercepted conversation involving Jared Kushner, stalling it in her agency for eight months, officials said.
- The Wall Street Journal reported that a classified whistleblower complaint against Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard centers on an intercepted communication in which Jared Kushner was mentioned by two foreign nationals discussing Iran. The National Security Agency reportedly intercepted the exchange last year, and the individuals allegedly described Kushner as a key Trump administration decision-maker on Iran policy.
- The whistleblower accused Gabbard of restricting access to the intelligence for political reasons after she met with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles to discuss the matter. Gabbard has denied the claims, calling them “baseless and politically motivated.”
- The complaint also alleges that the NSA’s general counsel failed to report a possible crime referenced in the intercepted conversation to the Department of Justice, again for political reasons, and that the whistleblower filing was kept secured for about eight months before Congress reviewed it last week on a heavily redacted, 'read-and-return' secure basis.
