- During the Safari Sevens in Nairobi, Warren Abrahams, head coach of Belgium's national women's sevens team and former Wales Women's head coach, died on Friday at age 43, Kenya Rugby Union confirmed on Sunday, October 12.
- Earlier this year, Warren joined Belgium national women's sevens team as head coach after consulting with Brazil's women’s sevens, building a résumé including Harlequins academy, England Sevens and USA women’s sevens roles.
- Tributes poured in from across the rugby world as Belgium Rugby said Warren was 'so much more than a coach, he was a mentor, a leader and above all, a kind and generous human being,' while Harlequins recalled his enduring impact and mentorship.
- Belgium withdrew from the tournament and returned home, with Belgium Rugby Federation saying all necessary measures support players, staff and Warren Abrahams' family during this time.
- He had a brief Wales spell in 2020–21 lasting less than nine months, leading Wales Women's head coach during a winless Six Nations; he also founded Rugby Creative, influencing global sevens programmes.
