Former supply teacher jailed for six years after taking more than 100 upskirt photos of children

Rahman admitted 21 offences, including more than 100 covert upskirt images and sexualised AI images made from pupils’ social media photos, police said.

  • Supply teacher Abusali Rahman, 37, was jailed for six years yesterday at Bolton Crown Court after admitting 21 child sex offences, including upskirting and creating sexualised AI deepfakes of pupils' images.
  • Working across 25 schools in north-west England since 2022, Rahman gained access to multiple pupils before police began investigating in March 2025 after concerned parents reported images on two X accounts.
  • Police discovered 226 category C upskirting images taken in classrooms and corridors, plus 25 category B and 12 category A images; detectives used GPS data and school uniforms to identify 15 victims aged 13 to 16 across seven schools.
  • Judge Kenderik Horne acknowledged Rahman's remorse, stating 'You've not given up on yourself. I'm not going to give up on you either,' while the NSPCC condemned his actions as 'a horrific breach of trust' and demanded tech firms strengthen regulation.
  • Detective Constable Lisa McGaffin warned that criminals are exploiting AI in ways 'we didn't even think would happen 12 months ago,' highlighting how emerging technology misuse continues to outpace existing legislation and police capacity.
