Former supply teacher jailed for six years after taking more than 100 upskirt photos of children
Police said Rahman used AI and covert filming to target 15 girls, and the court imposed a 20-year sexual harm prevention order.
Supply teacher Abusali Rahman, 37, was jailed for six years yesterday at Bolton Crown Court after admitting 21 child sex offences including upskirting and creating sexualised AI deepfake images of schoolgirls.
Rahman qualified as a teacher in July 2023 from Manchester Metropolitan University and worked as a supply teacher across 25 schools in north-west England, giving him access to pupils he secretly photographed using a concealed iPhone during lessons between December 2023 and June 2025.
Police identified 15 girls aged 13 to 16 from seven high schools in Bury, Bolton and Salford as victims, recovering 226 category C upskirting images from classrooms and corridors. Rahman had prepared to sell sexual content for £20 via Telegram, describing it as 'candid candy.'
Judge Kenderick Horne told Rahman: 'You were a trusted supply teacher, your position of trust gave you access to schools and classrooms. You were trusted to be in close proximity to female school pupils as young as 11.' The NSPCC called for stronger tech regulation, stating firms must prevent deepfake abuse and face consequences.
Detective Chief Superintendent Rebecca McKendrick, head of GMP's Public Protection Division, said the investigation prioritised victim welfare and that police will continue supporting affected schools and families. The case intensifies pressure on platforms and regulators to enforce meaningful consequences for companies failing to prevent AI-enabled child abuse.
Abusali Rahman, a father of one himself, had photographed at least 15 girls aged 13 to 16, who attended seven schools in the Greater Manchester area - He used AI to edit them
