Former Slovak police chief warns Hungary's asset recovery office: ‘2 years should be enough for accountability’

István Hamran said that in two years, more than forty, nearly fifty people have received a final conviction in Slovakia.
According to István Hamran, although Hungarians expect accountability, the policy cannot order the conviction of specific individuals from the National Property Recovery and Asset Protection Office.
If a country invests money, energy, experts and six years in an office specifically created to investigate corruption, but no final verdict is reached during that time, then it should be disbanded, the former chief of the Slovak police stated in a newspaper interview in which István Hamran spoke about his experiences with investigations against politicians, prosecutors and untouchable leaders there.
