Komeito Party leader Tetsuo Saito reported at a party meeting on the 20th that former leader Natsuo Yamaguchi (72) (Tokyo electoral district) will not run in the summer House of Councillors election and will retire from politics. Yamaguchi served as leader for eight consecutive terms, 15 years, from 2009 to September last year, making him the longest-serving leader since the Komeito Party was founded in 1998.
