Ford’s $29,945 Fathom Electric Truck Went Testing in Las Vegas, Giving Us Our Best Look Yet
Ford says the midsize electric pickup will start at $28,350 and include wireless Apple CarPlay, BlueCruise and bidirectional charging.
- On Tuesday, Ford CEO Jim Farley shared new footage of the camouflaged Fathom electric pickup while testing in Las Vegas, offering the clearest look yet ahead of the vehicle's early 2027 launch.
- Ford positioned the Fathom to compete in the affordable EV market, announcing a starting price of $28,350 excluding a $1,595 delivery fee; this undercuts the Tesla Cybertruck at $74,990.
- According to Ford, the pickup features a "large touchscreen display," wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Engineers expect at least 300 miles of range and a built-in NACS charging port.
- Although Farley described the Fathom as a "mid-size electric truck," the vehicle appears closer in size to the Maverick. Production begins at the Louisville Assembly plant in Q1 2027.
- Pre-Orders for the truck open early next year, with sales starting later in 2027. The Fathom will offer more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4, plus additional bed and storage space.
