The unions CNV and De Unie say they intend to join forces with new FNV chairman Hans Spekman to oppose the plans of Prime Minister Rob Jetten's cabinet. On Monday, it was announced that the former Labour Party (PvdA) politician has been appointed chairman of the largest union in the Netherlands. The new FNV board, led by Spekman, will begin on May 1.
Former Labour Party (PvdA) leader and former Member of Parliament Hans Spekman will become the new chairman of the FNV trade union. Sources told the political editors of RTL Nieuws that the largest union is facing difficult times: membership is declining and there has been considerable internal strife in recent years.
