- Dec. 22, Polk County authorities said Jason Kenney, 47, shot and killed his wife Crystal Kenney and shot his stepdaughter before fatally shooting himself.
- Officials said the argument over the televised 49ers-Colts game escalated after Crystal Kenney asked Jason Kenney to turn it off Monday, and deputies found a note saying, `You’re drinking, you’re using cocaine again. This is not the way the family should be. You need God.`
- The wounded 13-year-old stepdaughter is hospitalized and recovering after being shot in the face and shoulder, while a 12-year-old boy and 1-year-old daughter were unharmed and placed with grandparents.
- Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, `The bottom line is, three days before Christmas, he shot and killed his wife, he shot his 13-year old stepdaughter twice and intended to kill her,` and pledged support to the surviving family and children as homicide detectives are distraught.
- After the shootings Kenney fled and phoned his sister in upstate New York, then hid in a shed at his late father's Lake Wales home where deputies heard a single gunshot as he fatally shot himself.
