Johan Eliasch, the controversial president of the World Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), has been elected. In an electoral crime the billionaire received 64 votes at the Congress in Belgrade - exactly one more vote was given to his opponent Alexander Ospelt from Liechtenstein. His opponent Ospelt was elected for four years.
The FIS-congress in Belgrade is already starting to stir. First, the planned award of the World Cup to Oberstdorf or Planica was surprisingly postponed after a long delay, which led to whistles, anger and amazement in the hall. On Thursday, Switzerland called for a paper election in the election of the president.
