On a military training ground in a natural area a big fire breaks out. Further fires in other places follow. The Dutch fire brigade gets help - also from Germany.
Germany is sending 21 fire trucks with 67 emergency workers on board to the Netherlands to help extinguish the wildfires. This is reported by news agency ANP.
Most wildfires in the Netherlands are under control. This includes the fire in Weert, near the Belgian border. Nevertheless, extinguishing and mop-up operations will continue throughout the day. The Netherlands is receiving assistance from French and German firefighters. The Netherlands is also receiving a firefighting helicopter on loan. Belgian firefighters already came to the rescue yesterday in Weert, just across the Belgian border.
Two platoons from France and Germany are coming to help the Netherlands fight wildfires. This was stated by Anton Slofstra, Commander of the Dutch Fire Service, on Radio 1.
