‘Fire Country’: Jordan Calloway Reveals Why He’s ‘Grateful’ for Battalion Chief Twist
Fire Country uses Canadian locations including Vancouver and two villages to portray a fictional Northern California town inspired by real Cal Fire programs.
- Last year, Fire Country's production filmed primarily in Vancouver, British Columbia, using Vancouver Film Studios for Edgewater interiors and Anmore and Fort Langley villages to portray the fictional community.
- Inspired by the Cal Fire program, the series follows firefighters, including incarcerated volunteers, while Max Thieriot said his small hometown's close-knit dynamics shaped Edgewater.
- Crew used a real-life fire station as Station 42, the Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department posted that Anmore Fire Station was used, and scenes inside Station 42 are likely shot on a soundstage with scenic Rio Dell and Eel River Valley shots.
- The series spotlights the hardest cleanup work firefighters do, and Diane Farr, who plays fire captain Sharon Leone, said filming felt humbling as she hopes it raises awareness of Cal Fire and incarcerated firefighting crews.
- Some real firefighters on the show are Canadian and Thieriot called filming there "wonderful," amid Canada's wildfire context where "last year was wild and very difficult," a cast member said.
