CHENNAI, INDIA, AUG 6 – An electrical fire on the ninth floor caused smoke to spread rapidly, prompting evacuation and a one-day postponement of the 2025 Chennai Grand Masters, organisers said.
- A fire at the Hyatt Regency Chennai caused an emergency evacuation of all players and officials involved in the Chennai Grand Masters 2025 tournament.
- The tournament has been postponed from August 6 to August 7 due to the fire that broke out on the ninth floor of the hotel.
- All players and officials were moved to Hotel Pullman for safety after the incident, with no injuries reported.
- The tournament features 19 Grandmasters and offers a total prize pool of Rs 1 crore, and is set to run from August 7 to August 15.
