The Stockholm Academy of Fine Arts has caught fire and a major rescue operation is underway. Valuable art objects have been rescued from the fire, but it is unclear whether any objects have been damaged. – There is an imminent risk of that, says Ludvig Sääf of the rescue service.
Rescue services and police have been called to the Academy of Fine Arts in central Stockholm after a fire alarm. “It is an extensive fire that is not under control,” says Martin Johansson, command operator at Stockholm Fire Department.
There is a fire at the premises of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in central Stockholm. Rescue services and police are on site and several streets in the area around Fredsgatan, including the Sagerska Palace where the Prime Minister lives, have been blocked off. A fire broke out at the Academy of Fine Arts in central Stockholm on Saturday afternoon. Paintings are now being carried out of the building. The Prime Minister's staff is helping to put out the fire.
