Fight continues against proposed nuclear waste facility
Indigenous leaders and representatives from environmental organizations gathered in Montreal on May 26 to denounce plans for the construction of a nuclear waste facility—the Chalk River Nuclear Waste Project. The Near Surface Disposal Facility (NSDF) would be located close to the Ottawa River, upstream from both Ottawa and Montreal. The facility was originally slated to be completed in 2028, but the project has been delayed by legal challenges.
