- Architecture49 has previously designed the Life Sciences Research Institute in Halifax and the Rocky Mountain Integrated Research Facility in Montana, demonstrating expertise for similar work.
- Medical director of the Institute of Infection and Immunity Keith Fowke said the lab will produce "the test lots that are required," addressing gaps in Canadian vaccine research.
- Winnipeg South Member of Parliament Terry Duguid stated "this is a big deal for our city," as the federal government anticipates the facility will be finished in 2033.
